NLRPD Notification Service
The North Little Rock Police Department has started using an online service called Nixle to provide public information and alerts about crime and traffic. If you use Twitter or Facebook, this service is somewhat similar to those, except it is designed for cities and agencies to provide information that is applicable to your neighborhood (NLRPD is also on Twitter, follow at @NLRPD). Crime alerts can be issued directly to your email or cell phone. For example, when the Sherwood manhunt moved over into the Lakewood area, an alert was sent out.
I would highly advise registering with the site and signing up for notifications from the NLRPD to your cell phone (look under Settings after you’ve registered).

The Nixle website is very user friendly and I was able to sign up for the cell phone text message alerts.
